Lorraine Bennett was the heart and soul behind the foundation of what would become True Western Goat Stud. As the grandmother of the trio that started it all in 1999, her love of animals, her wisdom, and her unwavering dedication to family shaped everything we stand for today.
A LIFE WELL LIVED
Lorraine was born in 1942 and spent her life surrounded by the land she loved. Originally from Bathurst, she brought with her a deep knowledge of animal husbandry and a passion for breeding that spanned decades and many breeds — from Angoras and Cashmere to Savannah and Boer Goats. Her standards were high, her care was genuine, and her animals always reflected both.
THE FOUNDATION OF BONNIE VUE
When the family moved to Tooraweenah in 1999, Lorraine was central to establishing Bonnie Vue — the stud that laid the groundwork for True Western. Her guidance, experience, and tireless work ethic set the tone for everything that followed. She believed that breeding outstanding animals required not just skill, but heart.
HER LEGACY
Lorraine passed away in 2017, but her legacy lives on in every animal we breed, every bloodline we pursue, and every standard we hold ourselves to. True Western Goat Stud is built on her foundation. We carry her memory with us in everything we do — and we are proud to honour her life through the work she loved.
